Katie Ledecky has immortalized herself at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
After winning silver in the 4×200-meter relay, Ledecky earned her 12th medal to become the most decorated American woman in Olympic history. She only added to her total after collecting a gold medal in the 800-meter freestyle.
Ledecky has nine gold medals, four silver medals, one bronze medal and counting. She is tied for the most gold medals by a women’s Olympian in history regardless of sport and she has more total medals than any women’s swimmer in Olympic history.
Ledecky’s 14 Olympic medals only trails United States legend Michael Phelps (28) for the most in swimming history.

Will Katie Ledecky be in the next Olympics?
Ledecky is 27 years old. She will be 31 by the time the 2028 Los Angeles Games roll around, and competing in five Olympics is no easy feat.
But Ledecky made it clear that she has no intentions of retiring before she could compete in her first Olympics on U.S. soil.
“I’d love to,” Ledecky told the media when asked if she will be back in 2028 for a five-peat in the 800-meter freestyle.
“I mean, you never know,” Ledecky backtracked for a second. “I really just take it year by year at this point. … But, yeah, I don’t feel like I’m close to being finished in the sport yet.
“I’d love to continue on. And just seeing the kind of support that the French athletes are getting here, I think all of the U.S. athletes are thinking about how cool that could be in Los Angeles, having the home crowd. That would be amazing to be able to compete there.”
If Ledecky’s four total medals and two gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics are any indication, the swimming superstar won’t be falling off any time soon.
