Jackie Young Shines as USA Reigns Supreme in Olympic Showdown Against Germany

Make that 56 straight Olympic wins for the United States women’s basketball team, which closed out group play at the 2024 Paris Olympics with a 19-point win over Germany.

Team USA was tested early, trailing by as many as nine points in the first quarter before taking over in the second. Former No. 1 overall picks A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart have captured headlines to begin the tournament, but it was former No. 1 overall pick Jackie Young who stole the show against Germany.

Young, who also stars for the Las Vegas Aces, knocked down five triples en route to a game-high 19 points. Wilson and Stewart were the only other two members to finish in double figures with 14 and 13 points, respectively.

For Germany, Satou Sabally led the way with 15 points while former Syracuse standout Alexis Peterson scored 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field.

With the win, Team USA finishes atop Group C with a 3-0 record and awaits the final between France and Australia for a finalized quarterfinal bracket.
